Fish Audio
Fish Audio review and pricing: expressive AI text to speech and voice cloning with a free personal plan, with ElevenLabs as the main alternative.
Overview
Fish Audio is an AI voice studio for text to speech and voice cloning. Its newest model, Drama 3, is built for emotional, expressive delivery.
You can steer a read with tags like [whispering], [sad] or [laughing], and Fish Audio's docs say at least 10 seconds of audio is enough to clone a voice, in 30+ languages. There's also an API.
Free is for personal projects only. We haven't used it for this page; it relies on Fish Audio's pricing page, homepage and terms.

Pros
- Emotion tags. Tags like [whispering], [sad] and [laughing] change the delivery inside one script.
- Fast cloning. Fish Audio's docs say at least 10 seconds of audio is enough to clone a voice.
- Big voice library. It lists 2,000,000+ user-uploaded voices to pick from.
- No card to start. The free plan needs no credit card.
Cons
- Commercial use covers your own voices. Its FAQ says paid subscribers can use verified voices that they own for commercial purposes, so library voices may not qualify.
- Your content can train its models. Its terms say usage data and content may be used to develop and train its AI models.
- No partial refunds. Its terms say cancelling stops renewal but doesn't refund the rest of the current period.
How it compares
Fish Audio and ElevenLabs both do expressive speech and cloning. ElevenLabs Starter is $6/mo and includes commercial rights; Fish Audio's first paid plan, Plus, is $15/mo or $11/mo billed yearly.
